What we cover in Arizona

Auto is what most Arizona customers come to us for, and it is still what we do most. But A-MAX is an independent agency, so we can write the rest of what you own too, and bundle it where that saves you money.

Arizona minimum coverage

Arizona requires every driver to carry at least 25/50/15 in liability coverage.

Arizona minimum liability coverage requirements (25/50/15)
CoverageMinimumWhat it pays for
Bodily injury, per person$25,000Injury or death of one person in an accident you cause
Bodily injury, per accident$50,000Injury or death of two or more people in that same accident
Property damage, per accident$15,000Damage to the other person’s vehicle or property

That is the legal minimum, but it does not cover damage to your own car. If you finance or lease, your lender almost always requires collision and comprehensive on top. Arizona also has no personal injury protection (PIP), so medical payments coverage is optional and separate, and your carrier must offer you uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage in writing.

Verify current requirements with the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions. SR-22 filings go to the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division.

Arizona insurance FAQ

What is the minimum car insurance required in Arizona?

Arizona requires 25/50/15 liability coverage: $25,000 per person for bodily injury, $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $15,000 per accident for property damage. That is the legal minimum to drive in Arizona, and it does not cover damage to your own vehicle.

How fast can I get an SR-22 filed in Arizona?

Same day in most cases. Walk into any A-MAX office, bind a policy, and we file the SR-22 electronically with the Arizona MVD. Most filings go through within an hour. The state usually updates your record within a few business days, and in Arizona the filing stays in place for three years from the date of your suspension.

Can I get same-day car insurance in Arizona?

Yes. Most A-MAX customers in Arizona leave with active coverage the same day they walk in or call. Bring your driver license or ID, your vehicle’s VIN, and proof of any prior insurance if you have it.

Does my credit affect my Arizona insurance rate?

Many carriers use credit-based insurance scoring where state law permits it, so credit history can be one of the factors in your rate. It is one factor among many, and carriers weigh it very differently. That is exactly why comparing 35+ of them matters if your credit is not perfect.

How many A-MAX offices are there in Arizona?

A-MAX has 4 offices in Arizona: three in Phoenix (Central Ave, Dunlap Ave and McDowell Rd) and one in Yuma on S 4th Ave. All four are open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 6:00PM, and closed weekends. Use the city links above for addresses and phone numbers.

Do heat, monsoons and dust storms affect Arizona insurance rates?

They can. Arizona’s monsoon season, typically June through September, brings heavy rain, hail and dust storms that damage vehicles. Comprehensive coverage is the part of a policy that responds to that kind of damage, and carriers price local claim history into comprehensive premiums over time.

Can A-MAX help with insurance for trips into Mexico?

Yes. Your US auto policy does not cover you driving in Mexico, so you need a separate Mexican auto policy. A-MAX locations in Arizona write them for trips across the border into Sonora. Bring your current policy details to make the cross-border quote faster.

Do you cover drivers other companies turn away?

Yes. A-MAX is built for non-standard auto: SR-22, suspended license, no prior insurance, lapsed coverage, after-DUI, after-accident and high-risk. We compare 35+ carriers, including carriers that specialize in exactly these situations.

Does A-MAX write more than auto insurance in Arizona?

Yes. Alongside auto we write home, mobile home, renters, motorcycle, RV, boat and commercial insurance, plus roadside assistance and Mexican auto policies. One agent can quote several lines in the same call, and bundling is usually where the savings show up.

Where can I verify Arizona insurance requirements?

Verify Arizona minimum coverage and insurance regulations with the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions. For SR-22 filings, license reinstatement and registration, the authority in this state is the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division, known as the MVD, which sits inside ADOT.
